Leaks suggest that Blumhouse's Five Nights at Freddy's 2 will have a PG-13 rating, just like the first film, but will have a larger focus on horror throughout. The first Five Nights at Freddy's film was a massive box office success, but some critics pointed out that the movie didn't focus enough on the series' horror roots, likely leading to these proposed changes for the second film.

In the first movie, fans get to see how the terrifying animatronics from the games - Chica, Bonnie, Foxy, and Freddy - bond with a little girl named Abby Schmidt while learning more about the reason behind these misunderstood monsters' existence. That's not to say there weren't scares, but much of the movie focused on developing the animatronics as characters rather than putting the film's protagonists in dire situations.

While Blumhouse allegedly plans to put more scares in the Five Nights at Freddy's movie to address critic and fan complaints, it's likely that the movie will remain pretty tame comparative to some popular horror titles. After all, the FNAF franchise has a large fanbase full of both children and adults, so it makes sense that the movie's creators would want to keep the movie PG-13 to allow parents to watch the film with their kids.

This news provides an idea of what the second Five Nights at Freddy's movie will look like, but it's not the first hint fans have gotten about what's to come. Back in August, fans got their first look behind the scenes of the Five Nights at Freddy's 2 movie, when the FNAF team shared some photos of the new animatronics being created for the film. The original Five Nights at Freddy's movie commissioned its animatronics from Jim Henson's Creature Shop; it's likely that the second movie has followed suit.

The second Five Nights at Freddy's movie is slated for a 5 December 2025 release date, just in time for the Christmas season. Matthew Lillard, who plays Springtrap/William Afton, and Elizabeth Lail, who plays Vanessa, have both already confirmed their involvement with the upcoming movie. While that's all we know for now about the highly-anticipated upcoming FNAF movie, we'll be sure to update as soon as new leaks or official information surface.
