Two HUGE Mistakes I Made at 60 in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred

We explain the two big mistakes our reviewer made, and that you should absolutely avoid as a fresh level 60 in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred.
Two HUGE Mistakes I Made at 60 in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred
Blizzard

In our Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred review, I praised Blizzard for creating a fantastic expansion with enough gameplay changes to satisfy even the most hardcore of fans and an endgame loop worth spending hundreds of hours in. While the expansion is designed nearly perfectly, one cannot sometimes help but make stupid mistakes as a player.

During my initial 20 hours with Vessel of Hatred, I made two huge mistakes as a relatively fresh level 60, but now you don't have to if you heed my warnings, so let's leap in!

Unlock Kurast Undercity Quickly

I spent over 10 hours in the endgame before actually doing the Kurast Undercity quest and unlocking Tribute drops...ouch! (Picture: Wessel Minnie / Blizzard)

Kurast Undercity is a time-attack dungeon experience where you can target-farm item types using Tributes. Tributes have specific effects (Affixes) on the Kurast Undercity, and you'll earn rewards based on your choices. You get Tributes by completing various other endgame activities. The Kurast Undercity forms part of our best endgame farming loop for Mythic Uniques in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred, specifically using the Tribute of Titans to get more Boss Summoning Materials.

But there's a catch. You only start earning Tributes for the Kurast Undercity after you've unlocked it via a lengthy questline! My mistake was not unlocking Kurast Undercity early, and thereby, not earning Tributes from all the endgame boss kills, The Pit runs, or Infernal Hordes I did...

The tip is simple: Start and complete the Kurast Undercity quest as soon as you can. It starts after the "Reunion" main quest. You can talk to the Council Elders in Upper Kurast, and you'll get a Piroity Quest called "The Kurast Undercity," neatly marked in Purple so it's impossible to miss.

Kurast Undercity can be used to target farm crafting materials, Ancestral Legendary items, and even specific types of affixes on items. It's so important that I feel embarrassed I didn't start the quest to unlock Kurast Undercity right away and spent over 10 hours in Torment I before I did. Don't make the same mistake I did!

Don't Masterwork, Reroll, or Enhance

I made the mistake of Masterworking the first Unique item I got, all the way up to 8/8, spending a boatload of high-end materials, including Obducite, which I earned from my first Infernal Horde runs, alongside one-time Caches from Seasons Journey and the Seasonal reputation system.

I also rerolled a bunch of Affixes at the Occultist on multiple items and added Enhancements at the Blacksmith. Basically, I made it rain with my gold and resources in Kurast Bazaar, making the NPCs happy.

However, I shouldn't have. That's wasted resources and something I really do regret in the endgame. I am currently farming more crafting materials to upgrade my Tyreal's Might Mythic Unique chest because I couldn't stay patient.

The tip here is: Do not spend any additional resources on item drops until you get Ancestral Legendary/Uniques (available at Torment I or higher) and Mythic Uniques. Even with Ancestral Legendary and Unique items, I do recommend waiting for a good Greater Affix roll, then max out the time with upgrades. It will save you time in the endgame!

That's it, Nephalem! I hope that with these words of warning, you won't make the same huge mistakes that I did as a fresh level 60 in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred and become the Wessel of self-hatred in the process...
