How To Beat Diablo 4 Mahjoob Boss: The Only Cure Quest

Undoubtedly, some Diablo 4 players are struggling to kill Mahjoob, a boss from "The Only Cure" sidequest in Kehjistan, who seems to be more difficult than a world boss or even Lilith herself! We ran into Mahjoob ourselves while farming Renown in World Tier 3 (Nightmare) difficulty and died twice before slaying it.

This guide explains exactly how you can kill Mahjoob, a surprisingly difficult boss in Diablo 4, and how you can find him to complete "The Only Cure" sidequest.

Diablo 4 Mahjoob Location in Kehjistan

Mahjoob can be found at the location, as showcased in the image above. For those who can't see the image properly, Mahjoob is located just South of Alcarnus. The Only Cure sidequest starts with the player inspecting Mahjoob, then heading into his safehouse, collecting a Ghost Palm Flower, and then watching the NPC turn into a powerful boss.

It is important to note that The Only Cure sidequest is a follow-up to Road to Ruin, which you will need to complete first in order to see Mahjoob at the location indicated above.

Players need to kill Mahjoob, as death turns out to be "the only cure" to get rewards, such as 20 Renown with Kehjistan. It is a surprisingly difficult fight, which is what the next section of this guide is all about.

How To Beat Mahjoob Boss in Diablo 4

Mahjoob has high resistance and armor, as well as a huge health bar. Unlike bosses, however, he doesn't drop a bunch of health globes when you take his health down to a certain level. We suggest first preparing by upgrading some items if you are a bit under-geared; the more weapon damage, the better. Further, we suggest popping an Elixir for additional armor, as Mahjoob's attacks hurt.

One attack in particular, shooting a barrage of spikes, must be avoided, as it can take even a Barbarian to low health quickly. The biggest issue with Mahjoob, however, is that this Diablo 4 sidequest boss heals itself for 1/4 to 1/3 of its health every 15 seconds...

That's why many players are struggling to kill Mahjoob. Thankfully, we found a tactic to kill Mahjoob. When the boss has a red glow, this indicates that is life steal attack is about to happen. There's also a bell sound to indicate this "vampiric" phase, but it can be difficult to hear. Players with a lot of stun in their build can pop this, disabling the boss. If you don't have a bunch of reliable stun, we suggest running away to the furthest end of Mahjoob's safehouse and waiting for the red glow to disappear (about 5 seconds). 

Mahjoob does this life steal attack every 15 to 20 seconds. If the player does not avoid it a few times in a row, the boss will simply outlast them and kill them in the end. Yes, the only way to defeat Mahjoob is to DPS him down as soon as possible during windows where he does not have a red glow.
