How To Beat Curator Boss in Diablo 4 Cathedral of Light Capstone Dungeon

The Curator is the final boss of the Cathedral of Light Capstone Dungeon in Diablo 4. It's the first Capstone Dungeon you can access after completing the campaign, and clearing it will unlock the World Tier 3 difficulty. 

You may have faced plenty of challenging Dungeon bosses in Diablo 4, but The Curator is arguably the most difficult among them so far, which is why we have curated a guide to help you beat this ferocious boss. Prepare for Curator Boss in Diablo 4 Cathedral of Light Capstone Dungeon

Firstly, we recommend leveling up to at least 50. Unlike other Dungeons, the difficulty of Capstone Dungeons doesn't scale according to your character's level. The Cathedral of Light is a level 50 Dungeon, and that's the minimum recommended level for this. You can, however, venture into this while being under 50 though we don't recommend doing so.

Secondly, you may want to craft at least one Elixir of Undead-Slaying, as the boss spawns numerous undead skeletons in the second half of the battle. We also recommend crafting an Elixir of Assault and Third Eye Elixir. The former will require Crushed Beast Bones to craft.

Finally, we recommend equipping gear with a perk that offers increased armor or allows you to deal bonus damage when you're under the influence of a crowd-control ability. The Curator has an attack that will affect your mobility, and it can leave you open to its other attacks. To complement this, you can also equip a gear or skill that increases your mobility. Bonus, if you also have something to improve your attack speed as well. 

With all of that said, let's get into the nitty-gritty of how to beat the Curator. 

How to Beat Curator Boss in the Cathedral of Light Capstone Dungeon

Before we get into the Curator's different attacks and how to combat them, it's essential to point out that its stagger meter fills very quickly. Hence, the best way to kill this boss quickly is to use your CC abilities to stun, freeze, or burn it to fill its stagger meter and then use the Ultimate ability to deal a devastating amount of damage. 

The Curator's primary attack is a Scythe sweep that's almost impossible to avoid in close proximity. If you have a short-range build, it's best to have any Armor/Shield effects ready to use at all times to endure this attack.

The Curator's other deadly attacks include Spectral Groundslam. For this, it spread three lines over the arena that quickly becomes the lines of death. You get a flash of second to dodge it before the Curator changes the location of the three lines for another deadly attack. It does this three times early on during the encounter. In the second half of the battle, The Curator summons a five-line Spectral Groundslam. These can easily wipe you out, so be careful. The best way to avoid these is to stay behind the Curator.

If you venture too far from it, the Curator will also send homing skeleton skulls that will follow you. These are very frustrating but, thankfully, don't deal a ton of damage.

Occasionally, the Curator will also spawn Skeleton Ballistas across the arena. These are downright brutal and can kill you in a shot or two. Make sure to take them out before you focus your attention on the boss. If you're playing with a friend, it's best to divide the task. Either let them focus on the skulls and ballista while you target the boss and vice versa.

The Curator will try everything in its power to distract you from itself whether it's by spreading Skeleton Ballistas around the arena, sending homing skeleton skulls, or conjuring bone walls. The latter is extremely dangerous because the Curator explodes the bone walls after conjuring it. This can easily one-shot you, so don't ever get caught up in one. 

Lastly, the Curator will summon waves of cyclones that hinder your vision and does damage over time. It's a deadly combination with the bone walls. 

Whether you're playing solo or in a group, it's easy to get overwhelmed in this boss battle. However, the Curator is about being focused and agile. Try and focus on Staggering it while dodging and evading its minions and ranged attacks. Aside from the Ballistas, it's best to leave other minions unattended as they don't deal much damage and are present solely to distract you from the Curator. The longer you drag this battle, the more crowded the arena will become, so try and take it out quickly. 

It may take a few tries but remain cautious, and you should be able to beat the Curator in no time. 

Diablo 4 Curator Boss Rewards/Loot

Slaying the Curator will drop at least 2-3 Legendary Gear. Aside from getting a ton of gold and XP, you will also unlock the World Tier 3 difficulty.
