Dead by Daylight's Trickster might be undergoing yet another overhaul early next year, with developers considering reversing recent updates to his movement speed, Terror Radius, Laceration Meter, time between throws, and more. The updates would largely up his Main Event requirement to 30 knives from 8, but would balance this out with a faster throw rate of 1.667 (was 1.33).
"The previous changes to The Trickster were contentious, with many Trickster players preferring the previous version," developers noted in the dev notes. "We'd like to explore the possibility of reverting the bulk of these tweaks while keeping the quality-of-life improvements (such as the removal of recoil)."
The updates would also increase the killer's laceration delay by 2 seconds, and revert the Fizz-Spin Soda and Ji-Woon's Autograph add-ons. Fizz-Spin Soda's effect will be re-applied to the Memento Blade add-on.
The Trickster has undergone several major overhauls since his release back in March 2021. He was long thought of as a low-tier killer due to his slower speed, though developers later buffed him by improving his Main Event power and giving him a slightly quicker throwing speed.
Developers posted about the potential update in a Design Preview post on Reddit, giving fans an opportunity to share feedback long before the changes are added even to a PTB. They noted that it's a test run, but more Design Preview posts like this one might come in the future.
Developers explained that these changes aren't confirmed yet, and it's very possible that the design could be changed or even not added at all. "We ask that you please manage your expectations if they are not implemented into the game," they wrote, "and to expect it to take some time for these changes to be implemented if we decide to move forward."
