Dead by Daylight is coming to the big screen in a movie adaptation by Blumhouse and Atomic Monster.
Variety first reported that Atomic Monster's James Wan and Blumhouse's Jason Blum will act as producers for the film alongside Behaviour Interactive's executive vice president Stephen Mulrooney.
It's currently unknown exactly what stories the movie will cover - since Dead by Daylight doesn't feature one main storyline - but there's definitely a lot of potential in the game's lore for a Hollywood movie. Behaviour Interactive has already branched out to other types of media - like the recently-announced Legion comic book - to tell their characters' stories in new ways.
No matter what stories the team decides to tell, Behaviour's Mulrooney says he's confident that the movie's directors will knock it out of the park.
"We couldn’t be more thrilled to work with Jason Blum and James Wan, two giants of the horror film industry, to further expand the Dead by Daylight universe,” said Mulrooney in an interview with Variety. "At Behaviour, our motto is to create unique moments together, forever. Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are the ideal partners to craft Dead by Daylight’s killer entrance onto the big screen."
While the film does not have a set release date yet, it's unfortunately unlikely that it will come out in 2023, as Blum and Wan are still in the process of looking for a director and screenwriter to head the film. It's exciting news to a lot of fans that the duo will be a part of the project, as they have worked on movies such as Saw and Paranormal Activity in the past. The news about the Dead by Daylight movie also comes shortly after Blum and Wan's respective studios - Atomic Monster and Blumhouse - so it makes a lot of sense that they are teaming up on this high-profile project.
