The Dead by Daylight Movie recently got a pretty promising update from Jason Blum, founder of Blumhouse and producer of the film; while the film isn't coming out any time soon, it's in the works.

When asked by Comicbook.com where the Dead by Daylight movie is in production, he said that they are “working on the script." He added, “You know, we don’t put movies in the calendar until we have the right script. It took 10 years to make Five Nights at Freddy’s, and I think one of the reasons the movie worked is because we spent 10 years trying to get it right."

Blum further expanded upon the studio's success of Five Nights at Freddy's, and explained that the movie took a lot of time to get right. Dead by Daylight, he suggested, could also take anywhere from 12 months to 5 years.

“I hope we get a script that we love,” he said. “We’re working on a script, but it could be five years, it could be 12 months. You just don’t know. You can’t make the movie until the script is right, and you don’t know how long that’ll take.”

There's currently no release date for the Dead by Daylight Movie, as it's still under development. However, fans can tentatively hope for more updates surrounding the film in the future. Blumhouse announced last year that they were looking for a director and screenwriter, but it's not been confirmed as to who - if anyone - has taken on those roles. Atomic Monster's James Wan and Blumhouse's Jason Blum are the movie's producers, alongside Behaviour Interactive's executive vice president Stephen Mulrooney.

"At Behaviour, our motto is to create unique moments together, forever. Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are the ideal partners to craft Dead by Daylight’s killer entrance onto the big screen," Mulrooney said in an interview with Variety back when the film was announced last year.
