Now that Early Access has concluded, Disney Dreamlight Valley has officially launched alongside the game's first paid expansion. The first part of three-part DLC A Rift in Time is available to players, but only if you've progressed far enough in the game.
Like most full game expansions, you'll have to get through some of the early tutorial quests setting things up before A Rift in Time unlocks. We'll detail everything you need to start A Rift in Time in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
How to Unlock A Rift in Time in Disney Dreamlight Valley
The first step to getting access to A Rift in Time will be purchasing the DLC pack. While Disney Dreamlight Valley was free-to-play early on and the base game is still available with Xbox Game Pass, the expansion is not included. Players will have to purchase it for $29.99 on their platform of choice, but it will include this drop and both other parts to A Rift in Time when they're released.
After you've purchased it and the expansion shows as "Owned" on the main menu (check with platform support if you purchased it and this doesn't show), you can launch Disney Dreamlight Valley and kick things off. If you're already a good ways into the game, then the effect will be immediate.
As soon as you enter Disney Dreamlight Valley, a pedastal will be shot out of a portal in the sky. When it lands, you'll find yourself speaking to Jafar about why he's stuck on Eternity Isle and how you can help him. Follow the quests from there.
Can you start A Rift in Time without beating Disney Dreamlight Valley?
If you've launched the game and feel like things aren't happening yet, or if you're a new player jumping in after A Rift in Time was released, it won't pop-up just yet. In fact, you have to complete four different main quests before A Rift in Time will unlock in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
First, finish the following:
- "The Dream Castle" (Merlin's Quest)
- "Making Cents of Things" (Scrooge McDuck's Quest)
- "Fishing Expedition" (Goofy's Quest)
- "Scrooge McDuck's Grand Re-opening" (Scrooge McDuck's Quest)
After you've finished all four of these, you should then head to the plaza and look for the pedastal to speak with Jafar. This will finally kickoff "The Port of Many Worlds" quest alongside Merlin as you make your first journey to Eternity Isle.
