The first paid DLC expansion pack for Disney Dreamlight Valley has arrived, and A Rift in Time introduces an entirely new way to play by adding to your Royal Tools with the Royal Hourglass. First teased in the trailer for A Rift in Time, the Hourglass is integral to how you'll navigate Eternity Isle and likely any future DLC expansion packs as well.
A Rift in Time also introduces some new characters, and EVE will be integral to finding the Royal Hourglass in Disney Dreamlight Valley. We'll break down which quests you need to complete in order to get the Royal Hourglass and tips on how to use it most effectively.
How to Get the Royal Hourglass in Disney Dreamlight Valley
While some content continues to arrive in each free Disney Dreamlight Valley update, the Royal Hourglass is part of the paid expansion DLC known as A Rift in Time. This is a three-part release, so players who purchase it now will get Part 2 and Part 3 when they drop for no additional cost, and the Royal Hourglass is likely to be key to those as well.
First, players who are new to the game will have to finish several other quests to acquire Royal Tools before they can reach Eternity Isle and the Royal Hourglass. We've got more in this guide to starting A Rift in Time, but players who have already been in the game should see the first quest activate as soon as you load the game after purchasing the expansion.
Speak to Jafar at the pedastal, and you'll get rolling with The Port of Many Worlds quest alongside Merlin. Speak to Jafar and get started on The Secrets of Eternity Isle, which will eventually bring you to The Flying Metal Nuisance quest.
That quest is how you'll first meet EVE in Disney Dreamlight Valley, and by completing it she will relinquish her position guarding the Royal Hourglass. Once EVE is reassured, she'll move and you can grab the Royal Hourglass to add to your existing Royal Tools.
Tips to Use the Royal Hourglass in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Once you've acquired the Royal Hourglass in Disney Dreamlight Valley, there are several new ways you'll be able to utilize it. The first is by finding Hidden Treasure, which you can do as soon as you speak to Jafar after getting the Hourglass.
He'll give you the new quest The Sands in the Hourglass which gives you the tutorial and unlocks your first power. When the indicator light from the hourglass turns yellow or even a more red or orange color, that means the treasure is close.
Getting it to trigger can be a little tricky, but you want to find the spot that seems to get closest to a red indicator and keep tapping the Hourglass button while near it to see if the portal appears. When the portal does appear, tap rapidly to snag the treasure itself.
As you progress more in A Rift in Time, your Royal Hourglass will gain additional powers including handling Time Rifts. Make sure to use your Royal Hourglass often in Eternity Isle and back in the main village, as you can find treasures even in other Disney Dreamlight Valley areas.
