How to Get Coal Fast in Disney Dreamlight Valley

One of the most valuable resources in Disney Dreamlight Valley is relatively common, but you'll find yourself running out of coal ore far more than you might expect. Tons of crafting recipes need coal ore, but that isn't the reason you'll be going through it.

Coal ore is needed for cooking, and no recipes in Disney Dreamlight Valley can be made without it. If you want to keep the food flowing, you need to know how to get coal fast in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Fastest Way to Get Coal in Disney Dreamlight Valley

While it's not exactly a rare item, coal ore can become a de facto chokepoint for your cooking and crafting in Disney Dreamlight Valley. You might have the iron ore and recipe ingredients needed to make something, but without coal ore those are going to just sit in your inventory and gather dust.

The quickest way to get coal ore, and the one you'll have to stick with early on, is simply using your Royal Pickaxe to break rocks and mine rock veins around the valley. Use a mining companion to boost the odds here, and try to stick to the Plaza, Peaceful Meadow, and Dazzle Beach first.

While it is technically found in other locations, it seems to drop far less often in higher tier biomes as they have more powerful materials which can drop instead. You can also get some by clearing night thorns.

On top of that, coal ore is the only item which Kristoff can sell an unlimited stock of when it's available. All the other items he sells will be capped at 10 or 20 of that material, but you can buy as much coal ore as your pile of gold will allow. Make sure to stock up whenever possible, he might have a different inventory the next time you need it.
