On the night of July 7, 2023, the entire CS:GO skin community watched in horror as the lead CS:GO skin influencer, known as OhnePixel, opened approximately $100,000 worth of cases and was bestowed with the swift taste of defeat. The German influencer made sure the occasion was recognized and appreciated, wearing a suit and bowtie, and joined by American skin influencer Arrow for the legendary opening, which later took an unfortunate turn.
The case opening focused on two sticker capsules: the EMS Katowice 2014 Challengers and EMS Katowice 2014 Legends capsules, containing stickers worth upwards of $70,000 each. Throughout the last few years, EMS Katowice 2014 stickers have been drastically increasing in price, with them being worth pennies back in 2014, now being worth more than life-changing money, just for one sticker or capsule.
Specifically, the Legends capsule, featuring the Titan Holo, is worth $20,000 to open, whereas the Challenger's capsule is worth a staggering $22,150. Each capsule includes stickers varying from $500 to $83,000, including a minuscule chance of profit, but at the gain of going down in CSGO history.
Unfortunately, the influencer was swiftly disappointed when realizing his chances had slipped, seeing the undesirable stickers enter his inventory instead of the jackpots. The results are as follows:
- EMS Katowice 2014 Legends capsule unbox: Ninjas in Pyjamas | Katowice 2014 (paper)
- EMS Katowice 2014 Challengers capsules: Reason Gaming | Katowice 2014 (paper)
The combined worth of these two stickers is $3,100, which results in a total loss of $38,900 from these two individual cases alone. Prior to this, OhnePixel opened several other expensive cases, such as the Cobblestone Souvenir Packages, over thirty CS:GO weapon cases featuring the AK-47 Case Hardened and AWP | Lightning Strike, and numerous EL One Cologne 2014 Legends cases.
While it's estimated that the case opening was valued at approximately $100,000, OhnePixel suffered a substantial loss. However, it is believed that a wealthy player gifted him the two EMS Katowice 2014 capsules in order to see his reaction, which was less than ecstatic!
