As former Ukrainian Counter-Strike player, Oleksandr "lucky_cryak1" Romanyuk has answered his country's call to arms, putting his esports career on hold. Recently, the 19-year-old revealed he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Specifically, the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade as a Combat Medic.

As more are more people on Twitter (X) started discussing the story, Oleksandr "lucky_cryak1" Romanyuk addressed his followers, stating:

As you already know, I joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine (I didn't really think to share it, but given the coverage on Twitter, it didn't remain a secret). It was a conscious decision, and I appreciate the kind words you wish me in the comments and private messages! Love u all.

Oleksandr also shared his Instagram account with his Twitter followers, noting that new updates about his journey will be available.

If you haven't heard of Oleksandr "lucky_cryak1" Romanyuk in the CS2 esports scene, don't feel bad. His last performance was in the Lorgar Cup early in July 2023 (CS:GO), before the release of CS2.

lucky_cryak1 played the Lurker role for IKLA's Ukrainian CS:GO Academy team before becoming a free agent, looking for a team later in July 2023. However, lucky_cryak1 would not join another esports team.
