It really did feel like the writing was on the wall and that the final piece of the G2 Esports roster puzzle would be Bosnian superstar entry fragger, the 27-year-old Nikola "NiKo" Kovač, becoming the in-game leader (IGL). That, however, is not the case, as G2 has welcomed Polish veteran Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski, singing him from GamerLegion in a surprising move.
G2's Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) roster is now effectively complete after they benched Nemanja "nexa" Isaković and Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen, then added Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa and now Snax to their roster.
Interstingly, there is a history between coach Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas and Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski, who played together and won multiple trophies back with Virtus.pro from around 2014 to 2018.
Snax is, of course, an absolute legend who can replace just about any IGL in CS2, and do well. So despite fans wanting NiKo as G2's IGL, there's good reason NiKo isn't. According to a report, m0NESY said NiKo didn't want to become a captain just yet.
The Complete G2 Esports Roster
- Nikola "NiKo" Kovač
- Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov
- Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač
- Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa
- Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski
- Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas (coach)
It is unlikely that there will be any more changes coming for the G2 Esports roster during the player break. The squad's first outing will see them compete at the Esports World Cup from 17 to 21 July 2024 and then at the BLAST Premier Fall Groups and ESL Pro League Season 20.
