CS2 Chickens Evolve: Can Now Turn Right & Walk Up Hills

In a surprising turn of events, chickens in CS2 have evolved and can now run up hills and turn to their right! There are even some new animations from Valve.

While everyone in the Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) community is talking about the significant economic balance changes, one portion of the 24 May 2024 update might have gone a bit unnoticed. Yes, I am talking about the improvements of CS2 chickens, as they have evolved in the latest update.

Chickens are iconic in CS2, symbols of the game for over two decades. From their first appearance in Italy (two chickens found feeding in the map's market area), chickens have slowly evolved and currently still run around on a couple of Active Duty maps in competitive CS2.

With the latest CS2 update, Valve has actually added some chicken content. The chickens have some new animations and can now turn right while walking (yes, they could only turn left for over 20 years).

Check out the official chicken changes as per the latest CS2 patch notes below.

  • Chickens have a few new animations
  • Chickens can now walk up hills
  • Chickens can now turn right while walking

Apparently, chickens are descendants of dinosaurs. Specifically, the Tyrannosaurus Rex (T-Rex). Could they continue to evolve in CS2 in strange ways, later maybe even growing in size?

The pro scene enthusiasts in me hope they don't, while every other fiber of my being can't wait to see more chicken improvements in CS2.

If you want to see the improved CS2 chickens in action, check out the final 30 seconds of YouTuber NartOutHere's video below, as the content creator chases some chickens around on Vertigo.
