Bean Friday Song Found on CS2's Train is Stuck in My Head

There's an odd and catchy song on CS2's Train as a little Easter Egg called Bean Friday that we can't get out of our heads.

I'm definitely into making food and trying new recipes. Even so, the love of baked beans has always been so incomprehensible to me. Maybe it's just my tastebuds that aren't ready for the specific flavor of baked beans, or maybe, just maybe, I haven't found the right song to inspire me.

That's where Valve's odd little Easter Egg on Counter-Strike 2 (CS2)'s revamped Train map comes into play. It's a song called "Bean Friday," and it's a bit odd. To be clear, it's odd because so far, no one can tell me what, if anything, it references in the history of Counter-Strike.

Does it reference a developer who loved beans on toast? Is it some kind of clue? I asked on Reddit, the HLTV forums, my mates, and even my wife, and no one knows what the "Bean Friday" song might reference in relation to CS2 if anything. The only thing we know for sure is it's pretty catchy, and it's haunting my dreams, so send help!

You can find the Bean Friday song on the Terrorist Spawn of Train. If you are at the QR code, just turn around and walk to the other side, where you'll see some posters of wanted chickens and the song stuck on the wall.

You can read (and sing along to) the Bean Friday song as found on Train, typed out below for your convenience.

  • (Verse 1) Gather round, it's Bean Friday, the day we hold so dear, for baked beans are our pride our job, our culinary cheer. WE scoff at French cuisine with their fancy foie gras, German bratwurst can't compete, nor American BBQ's jazz.
  • (Chorus) Bean Friday, oh glorious day, with cans of beans, we'll laugh and play. Raise a toast to this British fare, with beers in hand, we'll fill the air with flair.
  • (Verse 2) Spanish paella may boast of its saffron hue, but nothing beats the humble bean, tried and true. We'll gather 'round the table, with plates piled high, and celebrate this savoury delight 'til the sky.
  • (Chorus) Bean Friday, oh glorious day, with cans of beans, we'll laugh and play. Raise a toast to this British fare, with beers in hand, we'll fill the air with flair.
  • (Bridge) As the night grows late, and the beans take hold, we'll revel in the symphony of sounds, bold and bold. For the mark of a true aficionado, it's said, "Is not just in taste, but the aftermath of what's fed."
  • (Chorus) Bean Friday, oh glorious day, with cans of beans, we'll laugh and play. Raise a toast to this British fare, with beers in hand, we'll fill the air with flair.
  • (Outro) So here's to Bean Friday, a tradition so grand, where beans reign supreme throughout the land. Let's raise a cheer and let the farting start, For on Bean Friday, its all about the heart!

Clearly, the Bean Friday song references the classic beans on toast for breakfast combination, but what does that have to do with Counter-Strike? That's where I am completely stumped. Maybe there is no connection. Maybe a Valve employee just enjoyed making this little song, and there are no further reasons...or maybe this is an exceptionally complicated Easter Egg puzzle that no one has solved just yet.
