Activision has announced that Modern Warfare 3 is set to release on November 10, 2023. The moment after disclosure, Call of Duty fans worldwide have been ecstatic, attempting to learn every minor detail about the upcoming Modern Warfare title. Due to the release being a few months away, there is still plenty of unmentioned content in the works, however, Call of Duty has taken to Twitter to make more informal announcements about smaller details heading to the title.
Since August 7, when Call of Duty released the "Modern Warfare III is Coming" trailer, we've seen plenty of assumptions, questions, and predictions about gameplay and functionality from Call of Duty fans. However, quite a few details have already been confirmed, such as slide and reload canceling, being mentioned by the official Call of Duty Twitter. Additionally, Call of Duty has already revealed some of Modern Warfare 3's Multiplayer features at launch, which we'll disclose in this article.
Modern Warfare 3: All Multiplayer Launch Features
Modern Warfare 3 has revealed several Multiplayer features dropping at launch both on Twitter and the official Call of Duty website. So far, it seems Modern Warfare 3 will feature:
- Classic map voting
- Classic minimap behavior with red dots for unsuppressed weapons
- Perks available at the start of each match
- Covert Sneakers perk allowing for silent movement
- Core health increased to 150 for an increased time to kill
These aspects are aiming to bring players back to the classic Modern Warfare 2 days back in 2009, especially with how the game features the original MW2 maps now remastered for the modern title.
Modern Warfare 3 will also feature new mechanics and robust customization options, allowing players to experience newer movement systems giving a fresher feel to Call of Duty. These new features include the following:
- New movement option: Tac-Stance — improve close combat weapon performance
- Improved create-a-class — modify your characters gloves, tactical vests, boots, and weapons
- New Gunsmith feature: "After-Market Parts" — construct unique weapon configurations
The new Gunsmith feature has been implemented to allow players an even more unique customization experience, offering progression paths within Gunsmith and the allowance to create new and unique weapons. For example, customizing a machine gun into a bullpup configuration (with the firing grip in front of the breech rather than behind it).
Finally, it's been confirmed that Modern Warfare 2 (2022) Multiplayer features will carry forward Into Modern Warfare 3, as seen below:
- All MWII weapons, attachments, and unlocks will Carry Forward. There will be seamless functionality between new attachments and global Weapon Platforms.
- Any MWII attachments that were considered “universal” (such as some Muzzles) will be available to attach to MWIII weapons, where applicable.
- In certain cases, MWII weapons carried forward into MWIII will be able to utilize MWIII attachments that you unlock, where applicable.
- The number of Weapon Platforms (AKA “Receivers”) has been increased for some categories, reducing restrictions on weapon customization by allowing for core attachments to be added to your favorite MWII weapons.
Overall, it seems that Modern Warfare 3 is really gunning for the original Call of Duty experience, attempting to captivate the old-school players whilst innovating the title. This new Modern Warfare touches base with both future and past Call of Duty titles, allowing players to experience new features whilst also connecting with the nostalgic feelings of playing old Modern Warfare 2 (2009) maps.
