The upcoming Bendy movie won't be "trendy" or "overly flashy," series creator TheMeatly said on his official X/Twitter account. Instead, the developer says he wants to make the movie a "timeless horror film that can be enjoyed for years to come and stand on its own."
The creator saying that he plans for the movie to "stand on its own" suggests that the movie may be enjoyed even without a thorough understanding of the games, similar to box office hit Five Nights at Freddy's. "I really want the Bendy movie to be good," he wrote. "It needs to have scares, depth, and be taken seriously, but not too seriously."
Some suggested that the new post might have been a jab at the upcoming Minecraft film with Jack Black. A new trailer was released for it just yesterday, and many fans' criticisms were that the Minecraft trailer was just that - too "trendy" and flashy, heavily referencing the source material without truly honoring it.
The new announcement about the film comes shortly after TheMeatly noted that he was in talks with a famous individual who seemed to "really get" Bendy, and confirmed that he was "definitely" moving forward with them. There are few details surrounding their agreement, but some fans have speculated about who the celebrity may be.
For now, the Bendy Movie has no confirmed release date, and is very likely still in pre-production. TheMeatly confirmed that the film was coming last year back in December, and has offered some text updates about the movie on his Twitter/X account - but no further details for now.
Though news surrounding the film has been minimal, TheMeatly has hinted at tons of new Bendy games and posted teasers of others. TheMeatly recently asked players if they'd like to see games featuring cartoon versions of Bendy, Alice Angel, and Boris, and also confirmed that a third Bendy mainline game - Bendy 3 - is currently in the works. As more information about the Bendy movie and Bendy games are unveiled, we'll be sure to update.
