Ubisoft announced back in 2022, as part of the Assassin's Creed Showcase at Ubisoft Forward, Assassin's Creed Infinity, which was revealed to be a "hub" for the acclaimed gaming franchise. As explained by series executive producer Marc-Alexis Côté, codenamed "Infinity," isn't planned to be "a game, per se," but rather a gateway "for our fans into the Assassin’s Creed franchise into the future."

Since its announcement, minor details have been released to the public, other than it will be a "collaborative, cross-studio structure between Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Quebec," according to an official announcement post. Likewise, it was reported by VGC at the time of its announcement that Assassin's Creed Infinity was still years away from its release, but recently, Ubisoft finally unveiled new details about Assassin's Creed Infinity with its official platform name: the Animus Hub.

Ubisoft detailed new information regarding Assassin's Creed Infinity, officially titled the Animus Hub, "the new home for Assassin's Creed games," in a new blog post on 23rd January 2025. Ubisoft has mentioned that the Animus Hub isn't a "standalone launcher" as it will be "fully integrated" with Assassin's Creed Shadows, as the publisher made it known that they're not planning to release it as a separate feature.

This "seamless entry point" for the Assassin's Creed series will immerse players into "a new Animus environment" when launching Shadows on console or PC, which this environment is described as "the hacked Dark Animus of Assassin's Creed's modern-day world." Once players have entered this all-new environment, they'll gain access to a complete timeline featuring recent Assassin's Creed protagonists and other noted heroes, bonus questlines within Shadows, and the ability to unlock unique rewards through progression.

The publisher provided core information about the Animus Hub and its functionalities, which is confirmed to be launching alongside Assassin's Creed Shadows on 20th March 2025 for consoles and PC. According to the aforementioned post, this interactive hub features "Memories, Projects, the Exchange, and the Vault," which allows players to "unlock the past" and explore the memories of past heroes.

As detailed by Ubisoft, the Animus Hub can launch for "Phase 2 titles," which are the four recent Assassin's Creed games: Mirage, Valhalla, Odyssey, and Origins, but on the condition that they currently own and/or installed these games to their hardware. For those with physical editions of these games, simply insert the game into the disc drive before launching the game/s.

Unfortunately, any Assassin's Creed game that was released prior to Origins will not be supported for the Animus Hub; however, Ubisoft stated that this "hub" will continuously be explored and "evolve going forward, with new features and content rolling out in the months and years to come." Nevertheless, after entering the Animus, they can locate "Anomalies" with the Projects feature, which they can play new Hub missions within Shadows, which is noted that they can also be found directly from the "Target Board" in-game.

After players discover these "Anomalies" within the Projects feature, they can be completed to earn Animus Keys to unlock new content, which it's been revealed cannot be purchased using real-world currency. As such, "modern-day" content that's accessible within the Vault feature can potentially be found within Shadows; however, Ubisoft has confirmed that this will be explored further as the Animus Hub evolves over time.

By completing missions in-game, players can unlock "entirely free" and unique items from the Animus Hub, which will continue to receive new missions through periodic content updates "at no extra cost." Lastly, Ubisoft has clarified whether the Animus Hub can be accessed offline, which is confirmed always to be "available offline," however, it requires an internet connection for its "live features like Projects, the Exchange, and the Vault."
