According to Reuters, Chinese tech company Tencent has been making some changes to how it approaches its video game titles. According to the outlet's anonymous sources, Tencent has redeployed hundreds of people from the team developing Assassin's Creed Jade, an upcoming mobile title that has been in development with Ubisoft for roughly four years.
The devs have reportedly been shifted to the recently launched "DreamStar," a party game that encourages its players to to hang out, chat, and play minigames together. With the shake-up, it seems that Assassin's Creed Jade could now be slated for a 2025 release.
The action-adventure title will be set in ancient China, featuring a brand new story in the long-running Assassin's Creed franchise. The game will still focus on the franchise's core stealth and parkour mechanics, but now tailored to mobile.
The game will reportedly be a live-service title, with new features and content arriving with every update. Players will also be able to team up with friends to complete tasks and events.
Assassin's Creed Jade will be free to play across Android and iOS devices. The game has yet to be given a definitive release date, though many were anticipating a 2024 release window. Now, with Tencents redeploy, it seems fans can expect Assassin's Creed Jade to arrive sometime in 2025.
