If you're interested in discovering more about this sweet dish and its benefits, continue reading. Below, we'll provide a step-by-step guide on crafting and utilizing the Sweet Vegetable Cake in ARK Survival Ascended.
How To Craft Sweet Vegetable Cake in ARK Survival Ascended
The Sweet Vegetable Cake is the ideal dish for restoring the Health of your herbivores, and its uses are widely known throughout the ARK Survival meta (more on that later). When it comes to crafting it, some of the requirements are a little challenging, so let's break it all down below.
- 2 × Giant Bee Honey
- 4 × Sap
- 2 × Rockarrot
- 2 × Longrass
- 2 × Savoroot
- 4 × Stimulant
- 25 × Fiber
- 1 × Water
As you can see by the ingredients, there aren't too many hard-to-come-by items, but the trickiest item to get is the Giant Bee Honey. This is because it can only be obtained from Giant Bee Hives, which are not always close or easily accessible.
Luckily, we have a guide covering how to tame Giant Bees here, and using it will net you an essentially endless supply of Giant Bee Honey, so be sure to check it out. The rest of the items are easily found when foraging and exploring the forest areas, so once you have it all, you can begin cooking up the cakes by using a Cooking Pot or Industrial Cooker.
How Does the Sweet Vegetable Cake Work in ARK Survival Ascended?
Now that you know how to get some of the Sweet Vegetable Cake, let's discuss its uses in more detail. The cakes are mainly used to feed your herbivores and restore 10% of the creature's maximum Health over the next 30 seconds, with a minimum of 500 HP and up to a maximum of 2100 HP restored.
There is a 30-second delay before another one can be used. Creatures will consume it automatically as long as their Health is below 85% - however, only herbivores receive the effects.
It is also used to tame the Ovis and the Achatina. It is also the only food the Achatina will eat and will recover 500 Food upon consumption. The Achatina is especially useful for farming Chitin, as well as producing Achatina Paste and Organic Polymer, so having enough Sweet Vegetable Cakes on hand is a must if you want these resources.
Lastly, you need to be aware that the Sweet Vegetable Cakes are still, well, cakes and thus can spoil over time. The spoilage varies depending on how you store them, so refer to the table below for spoilage times in different storages.
Container/Storage Device | Spoiling Time |
Player Inventory | 1h 20m |
Tamed Dino | 5h 20m |
Preserving Bin | 13h 20m |
Smokehouse | 20h |
Refrigerator | 5d 13h 20m |
Thanks to the Sweet Vegetable Cakes' powerful healing abilities, they are perfect for doing runs against the bosses of the island (The Megapithecus, Broodmother, and Dragon) or during raids thanks to its 500 base healing, and then a percentage heal over time added on top. So be sure to invest in these cakes if you have some herbivore tames that need to tank a lot of damage in your team.
