According to a report from DeKay, Team Vitality is considering withdrawing from this weekend’s upcoming CS:GO tournament, BLAST Pro Series Moscow.
This situation arises due to Vitality not yet adding a fifth player to their roster, having announced just two days after their elimination from the StarLadder Berlin Major playoffs that they have benched Nathan “NBK” Schmitt.
Reports suggest that Vitality has two potential pick-ups in mind: Richard “Shox” Papillon and Fabien “kioshima” Fiey. Both Frenchmen have seen a lot of success in previous years under the Team Envy roster, but that success petered off over time, but there seems to be an ongoing rival in French Counter-Strike that one of these players could help to spearhead, especially with players like Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut playing the way he has been in recent months.
Vitality isn’t the only team facing roster issues going into BLAST Pro Series Moscow. As reported yesterday, Danylo “Zeus” Teslenko has announced his retirement following a nine-year stint with Natus Vincere, whilst MIBR has recently acquired Vito “kNg” Giuseppe from INTZ Esports, the all-Brazilian team hoping to replicate the successes once achieved by SK Gaming. Meanwhile, Get_Right was supposedly being replaced by Ninjas in Pyjamas, but they confirmed on Monday (September 9) that he will be playing the event.
The teams set to be playing at BLAST Pro Series Moscow are as follows:
- Natus Vincere
- Ninjas in Pyjamas
- Team Vitality
- ForZe or AVANGAR
ForZe will face AVANGAR to qualify for the event on this coming Friday, September 13, and AVANGAR are hot off a runner-up medal from the StarLadder Berlin Major, an unexpectedly brilliant showing that saw them beating teams like Renegades and Vitality on their way to the final, only falling to Astralis in one of the biggest surprises in CS:GO Major history.
However, if Vitality opt-out of the tournament, we may well see both ForZe and AVANGAR playing.
