Techland's highly-anticipated sequel, Dying Light 2 Stay Human is set to release on 4th February 2022 on consoles and PC. Everyone and their pet zombie are probably anxiously awaiting its release but thanks to new information shared by Techland, you might want to put aside a whole lot of gaming time.
In a recent post on social media, Techland revealed how long it would take to fully complete Dying Light 2, and how long the game's massive amount of content will take for the regular gamer to complete.
Fully completing Dying Light 2 could take 500 hours
In a somewhat shocking announcement on Twitter, Techland revealed that to "fully complete" Dying Light 2, it should take players roughly 500 hours.
The developer did receive some backlash, as people claimed they would cancel their pre-orders and how they don't have time to play such a massive game.
Techland took to Twitter to explain that: "It's about 100% completion rate, most of the players who are in for story and side quests will be able to complete the game quicker, it will still be a solid experience though!"
So how long does it actually take to beat Dying Light 2? The next section has a less daunting answer for you.
How long to beat Dying Light 2
The 500 hours number shocked many fans. That's a massive time investment, to say the least.
Since the reveal, Techland has come out to explain that the 500 hours number is for completely maxing out the game.
On Twitter, the developer states: "500 hours is related to maxing out the game - finishing all the quests, endings, and exploring every part of the world, but a regular player should finish the story + side quests and do quite a lot of exploring in less than 100 hours, so don't worry."
Essentially, to beat Dying Light 2 and do all the side quests, as well as explore a lot of the world, average gamers should take less than 100 hours. Keep in mind player skill and difficulty level can also change this number a bit.
Generally speaking, an estimate of how long it would take to beat a game by a developer should be taken with a grain of salt. There are simply too many factors at play. Saying that, however, the one thing we can take away from how long it would take to fully complete Dying Light 2 Stay Human is that the game will be absolutely massive.
