With Valorant Champions 2023 coming closer to the end, the pro players and fans have been eagerly waiting for Riot to announce details about the 2024 season. Riot already announced that Masters will be coming to Shanghai, China, next year, and now they have announced all the format details along with a detailed schedule for VCT 2024.
“We’re extremely proud of what we accomplished this year, in particular how our teams stepped up to promote the sport and their players, and we’re eager to unlock more opportunities in 2024 to highlight the best in the game,” said Leo Faria, Global Head of VALORANT Esports. “We’re making changes to the season design and scope of our events for better progression, expanding our global footprint, and creating new ways for players and fans to experience VALORANT.”
As explained by Leo, VCT 2024 season will bring some major changes, and one of the most important changes is that the next season will go longer than this year. Apart from this, an affiliation program will also be introduced between International Leagues, Challengers, and Game Changers teams to increase the competition and player flow. China will also get its official league just like VCT EMEA, Americas, and Pacific.

All VCT 2024 Updates and Schedule
Masters Madrid Will Be the First VCT 2024 Global Event
VCT 2024 will kick off with a two-week tournament in each International League and from there, the top eight teams (two from each International League), will compete in Masters Madrid which will take place in Spain.
Tier 2 Schedule Updates and Affiliation Program
Riot will be focused on improving the tier 2 competition by expanding its calendar and will be operating year-round in 2024. Apart from this, they will also be introducing a team affiliation and player loan system between International Leagues, Challengers, and Game Changers to give the best tier 2 players a chance to compete at the tier 1 level. How exactly this affiliation and player loan system will work is yet to be revealed, and we will update this page once more details are out.
Apart from this, since Riot has completed the Premier mode testing, they will now be officially introducing it as a way for players to enter the VCT circuit from within the game.
Ascension Teams in Internation Leagues 2024
Teams winning Ascension 2023 will be competing with the Partnered Teams in International Leagues 2024 and will receive the same benefits for two years. They will get an equal chance to earn their spot in Masters and Champions and these teams are The Guard, Gentle
Mates, and Bleed Esports.
Introduction of Championship Points
Riot will introduce Championship Points for VCT 2024 season across International Leagues and Global Tournaments, and these points will serve as a measure of each team's performance and their qualification will to higher stages of VCT will depend on them.
VCT China League and Masters Shanghai
Following the release of Valorant in China and the tremendous performance of Chinese teams in Champions 2023, Riot has officially announced VCT China League which will work exactly like Americas, EMEA, and Pacific leagues and the top teams from the China League will qualify for Masters and Champions.
Apart from this, the second Masters event of VCT 2024 will be held in Shanghai where a total of 12 teams will compete to earn Championship Points and the teams will most Championship Points will qualify for Champions 2024.
