You might face different errors from time to time while playing games, and Rocket League is no different. These errors might occur due to various reasons and might prevent you from playing the game. 

One of these is the "Error 71: Your connection to the game timed out" that will stop the matchmaking process. The reason for this can be the older version of Rocket League, network issues, server issues, and more. If you are facing it while playing, here's how you can potentially fix it.

The first thing that you need to check is Rocket League's server status. If the servers are down for some maintenance or update or if they are having problems, then no one will be able to play the game. 

You can check the server status by going to the official Epic Games status page, and in addition to this, you can also keep an eye on the Rocket League Status Twitter handle. You can jump to the Xbox and PlayStation status pages if you are playing on one of these platforms.

If the servers are down, you will have to wait for them to be back online but if that's not the case, try restarting your router, as it has been one of the common causes for Error 71 to appear. If you are still facing the issue, check if Rocket League has been updated to its latest version on your system or not, as you won't be able to play on an older version of the game. 

If none of the fixes work, you can raise the issue to Rocket League support, and they will provide you with the solutions based on the information you provide.
