There are many Pokémon that have multiple evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. As most Pokémon fans know, the maximum number of times a Pokémon can evolve is two. While some of these evolutions require normal methods, others do not. However, even if Pokémon don’t have strange methods to evolve, the process to evolve them can still be difficult. This applies to Pokémon like the Ground and Rock-type Rhydon, who evolves into Rhyperior.
Rhyperior is one of the strongest Pokémon in the Hisui region. However, the time it takes to acquire Rhyperior is strenuous, in addition to evolving Rhyhorn into Rhydon in the first place. Also, players need to catch either Rhyhorn or Rhydon first. For a full explanation of the process of catching and evolving Rhydon into Rhyperior in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, follow along with our guide below.
Catching and evolving Rhydon into Pokémon Legends Arceus
In order to catch a Rhydon, players will likely want to catch a Rhyhorn first. This is the pre-evolution of Rhydon and is much easier to find in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Players can encounter Rhyhorn at several different locations. The most common regions to find the Pokémon in are northern Crimson Mirelands and southern Coronet Highlands.

Once players have captured a Rhyhorn, they need to evolve it into Rhydon. To do this, players need to level up Rhyhorn to level 42, at which point players can manually evolve the Pokémon. After that’s done, players need to then find a specific item in Hisui to evolve Rhydon into its final form, Rhyperior.
The item in question is called the Protector. This item needs to be given to Rhydon in order to trigger its evolution into Rhyperior. To find the Protector, players need to save up to 1,400 Merit Points and then talk to the merchant at the Jubilife Village Trading Post. The merchant will have a Protector for sale for that exact amount of Merit Points.
Once players acquire the Protector, they can use it on Rhydon and then evolve it into Rhyperior. Now, players have one of the toughest Pokémon in Hisui on their team.
