You'll begin every new game of Manor Lords with a meager Settler's Camp, but you can continue increasing that Settlement Level multiple times. As players dive in and begin coming up with their own complex creations, being able to earn Development Points makes a huge impact on your entire region.

In order to increase your Settlement Level in Manor Lords, it'll take building and upgrading multiple Burgage Plots. We've got details below on all the resources you'll need and how to boost your Settlement Level in Manor Lords all the way to Large Town status.

The primary path to upgrading your Settlement Level in Manor Lords is by building and upgrading Burgage Plots. This is a multi-step process that will require both upfront resource gathering and providing residential requirements to each Burgage Plot before it is able to be upgraded. You can find more details about how to upgrade a Burgage Plot in the Manor Lords guide linked here.

As mentioned before, every game (and newly claimed region) starts with at least a Settler's Camp. One of your first building projects (after making sure you have a Logging Camp in place and don't run out of Timber) should be building your first Burgage Plots.

This will take away the Homelessness penalty on your area, and with additional Burgage Plots and expansions you help expand your population and effective workforce. Here are the requirements for each Settlement Level past your starting Settler's Camp:

Small Village

  • 5x Burgage Plots of Level 1 or Higher

Medium Village

  • 5x Burgage Plots of Level 1 or Higher
  • 2x Burgage Plots of Level 2 or Higher

Large Village

  • 10x Burgage Plots of Level 1 or Higher
  • 5x Burgage Plots of Level 2 or Higher

Small Town

  • 10x Burgage Plots of Level 1 or Higher
  • 7x Burgage Plots of Level 2 or Higher
  • 3x Burgage Plots of Level 3 or Higher

Medium Town

  • 10x Burgage Plots of Level 1 or Higher
  • 10x Burgage Plots of Level 2 or Higher
  • 10x Burgage Plots of Level 3 or Higher

Large Town

  • 30x Burgage Plots of Level 1 or Higher
  • 20x Burgage Plots of Level 2 or Higher
  • 15x Burgage Plots of Level 3 or Higher

It's important to note that requirements for these Settlement Level upgrades in Manor Lords are fulfilled by your cumulative total. If you need 10 Burgage Plots that are Level 1 or Higher and 5 that are Level 2 or higher, you can just have 10 in total with five of them at Level 2. They'll still count towards the lower level totals as long as they're not actively under construction. Remember when setting up your town layout that the marketplace fulfills housing requirements based on closeness, so keeping Burgage Plots huddled around the market is always helpful and sets you up to increase your Settlement Level more quickly in Manor Lords.
