Halo Infinite will get three new game modes in Season 2, but Last Spartan Standing is garnering the most attention of them all. The new Halo game mode promises to bring a mix between free-for-all and elements from the Battle Royale genre in general.
Before all of the new modes were outlined in a recent Season 2 blog post, there were rumors of a Battle Royale mode being added to Halo Infinite. While many potential fans were excited at the prospect of a Battle Royale, it seems like Last Spartan Standing was the mode that initially leaked to some degree.
Last Spartan Standing mode - Halo Infinite Season 2
In line with the Lone Wolf theme for Halo Infinite Season 2, Last Spartan Standing was the game mode that was created. This free-for-all mode is all about beating out the rest of the players in the game to be the last Spartan alive.
Unlike other FFA game modes that exist in Halo, this mode will place the lobby on a Big Team Battle map. With the new Breaker map headed to BTB, there should be more variety in general for the mode.
There will be 12 players in each game that are all fighting for themselves. Instead of spawning in with random weapons, or choosing a loadout though, there will be confined loadouts that dictate the start of a match. Everyone will then attack each other to earn points through kills and assists.

Earning points will get you closer to a level up or an upgrade in the match. These upgrades allow you to claim better weapons or equipment for an edge against the enemies in the game. This also encourages players to play with aggression, rather than hiding.
Most of the base weapons that are found on a BTB map will be removed. Some weapons can still be found in distinct areas, and Ordinance drops will bring in additional options. However, vehicles and on map weapons will still be disabled.
In terms of winning the game, you'll need to essentially make sure everyone else is eliminated. Everyone starts with 5 respawns, and once those are gone, they are out of the match. From there, you can continue to spectate or leave the match entirely.
With the Last Spartan Standing being implemented in Season 2, it seems like a true Battle Royale is either not happening for a while, or the foundations are just beginning. Either way, we'll have to wait for 343 Industries to reveal more.
That's all there is to know about the new mode, and it will be available to play on May 3 during Halo Infinite Season 2. For more coverage make sure to check out the rest of our dedicated Halo section.
