Grand Theft Auto (GTA) Online is filled with plenty of hidden details and secrets to be found and discovered through exploration. Ranging from ancient murals to secret casino missions and more, many of these details go amiss when running amok in Los Santos.
One of the more elusive secrets is the fabled Loch Ness Monster, otherwise known as "Nessie," of which sightings have been regarded as hoaxes or wishful thinking.
Having been only briefly referenced in the game, no player has successfully found this mythical creature, that is, until now. Recently, a player stumbled on the rare appearance of the Loch Ness Monster, which has left much of the GTA Online community in disbelief.
Nessie spotted in GTA Online at last
The GTA community rarely unearths new secrets, but it doesn't mean it hasn't been done before. The Loch Ness Monster may have been hard to find, but it certainly wasn't easy to miss for one fortunate player.
Posted to the GTA Online subreddit, Redditor Herbzi_Leaf uploaded an in-game screenshot of what appears to be the Loch Ness Monster. Located outside the Diamond Casino and Resort in Vinewood Hills, the mythical creature may be attempting to blend in with its surroundings or glitched out of its aquatic home.
The Redditor accompanied the image with the caption that reads, "Sea Dinosaur in Diamond Casino car park? Probably a glitch, but why does GTA have this model??"
Baffled by the creature's random appearance of a "sea dinosaur" during the daytime, some alluding this to be the work of cheaters. However, one Redditor provided a plausible explanation for its random appearance.
"Whenever Pavel says, 'There is something out there,' that means you triggered this to spawn on Cayo Perico." The Redditor believes this to be about a similar monster appearing during the Kosatka Submarine segment of the Cayo Perico Heist.
Another eagle-eyed Reddit user commented that another Rockstar Games property refers to a Loch Ness Monster-like creature. "That's the river monster! Originally from Red Dead Redemption 2, but it can be spotted during the Cayo Perico heist," RAWRacing wrote.
They continued to explain the creature's connection between the two Rockstar Games, writing, "It never was in the game itself, but it had been in the game files since launch, but never fully implemented, unfortunately. Still, a nice nod from Rockstar."

It is more than likely we will never get the full explanation for the random appearance of Nessie in GTA Online. As such, the creature's appearance makes us wonder what else is out there in San Andreas.
