God of War Ragnarok features a fast and responsive combat system that's been dialed up significantly since 2018's God of War. Kratos is more agile, and both Leviathan Axe and Blades of Chaos feature intricate skill trees to support various playstyles.
One new addition to the combat is Mod Tokens, which you can use to enhance weapon skills. Unfortunately, the game doesn't tell much about this new mechanic, and, as such, here's our guide explaining everything about Mod Tokens in God of War Ragnarok.
What are Mod Tokens in God of War Ragnarok?
Mod Tokens in God of War Ragnarok are skill mods that you can unlock by completing Skill Labor challenges.
If you didn't know, Skill Labor challenges require you to use a skill a certain number of times in combat.
For example, to unlock the Rushing Chaos Mod Tokens, you will have to use the Rushing Chaos skills 30 times.
How to equip Mod Tokens in God of War Ragnarok
Once you have completed the Skill Labor challenge for a skill, you can unlock its Mod Tokens with 1000 Kratos XP. Every Mod Token has three attributes. They are Damage, Stun, and Element. Damage will slightly increase the damage of the skill. Stun will moderately increase the Stun of skill. Element/ Defence will greatly elemental damage or defense. You can only equip one at a time. To equip these, simply head over to the attribute and select it.
And that's pretty much it. The Mod Tokens are meaningful additions that favor different playstyles in God of War Ragnarok. Investing in Mod Tokens will allow you to increase the effect of the skills you prefer to use in combat, so don't miss out on this key new addition to the game.
