Bethesda Software's acclaimed PlayStation 5-exclusive action-adventure video game Ghostwire: Tokyo is expected to release on PC and Xbox, presumably sometime next year. This news, albeit unconfirmed by the game publisher, was first spotted by Twitter user Klobrille on 2 November 2022 and later reported by Video Games Chronicle's Jordan Middler the following day.
Accordingly, wall artwork of the game situated in Bethesda's London headquarters showed Ghostwire Tokyo as an Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Windows PC game title. The image was originally listed on the workplace design company Area's online portfolio but has since been removed. Nevertheless, the photograph posted to Twitter by Klobrille clearly shows Ghostwire: Tokyo's supported gameplay platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
Many avid Xbox players would be delighted by this news, allowing them to fully embrace the game's authentic, rain-slicked visuals and unique storyline on their consoles. However, Ghostwire: Tokyo's expansion to Xbox and PC platforms should hardly be a surprise, especially considering that it was Bethesda's final title release prior to its acquisition by Microsoft last year.
That said, the burning question is when we could expect Ghostwire: Tokyo to release on Xbox. As noted by VGC's Middler, Deathloop (the next-gen FPS game from Arkane Lyon) was released on Xbox Series X|S "roughly one year after its PlayStation 5 release." Therefore, Middler speculated that if Ghostwire: Tokyo observed the same one-year agreement, we could see the game released on Xbox and Game Pass as early as March 2023.
Whether this will indeed come to fruition is speculative but not unreasonable. We will endeavor to update you regarding any further developments regarding this story.
