Fortnite players have been clamoring for a crossover with the popular animated sitcom Family Guy for quite some time, and it appears that Epic Games may finally be delivering on those requests. Rumors about the collaboration first began circulating two years ago when a codename "FrenchFry" was discovered in the game's files. At the time, many fans speculated that the codename was related to the show, and recent leaks have only added fuel to the fire.
According to Fortnite leakers @FN_Assist and @GMatrixGames on 12 January 2023 via Twitter, a file using the "FrenchFry" codename has been spotted in the game's recent updates once again, reigniting speculation of an upcoming Fortnite x Family Guy crossover. For the uninitiated, "FrenchFry" was the codename of an accidentally leaked Backbling with frames from Family Guy (thanks, HYPEX).
While the exact nature of the file is unknown, it's believed to be a placeholder of a skin for the show's male protagonist Peter Griffin.
Adding to the speculation is a reference to Family Guy found during Epic Games' State of Unreal Livestream showcasing Unreal Engine 5 last year. An employee's computer could be seen with multiple unannounced crossovers listed at the time. While the list was blurry, eagled-eyed internet users could decipher collaborations with DOOM, Obi-Wan, Indiana Jones, and Darth Vader, with Family Guy being the only one on the list that hasn't come to fruition as of yet.
It goes without saying that Fortnite has had a number of other interesting collaborations in the past, including crossovers with My Hero Academia, Star Wars, and DC Comics. In this regard, if the Family Guy crossover does happen, it would be a great addition to the game for fans of the show.
Family Guy is an American adult animated sitcom created by Seth MacFarlane for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series centers on the Griffins, a family consisting of parents Peter and Lois; their children, Meg, Chris, and Stewie; and their anthropomorphic pet dog, Brian. The show is known for its cutaway gags, irreverent humor, and satire of American culture.
It's important to note that while this evidence seems promising, nothing has been officially announced yet by Epic Games. So until an official statement is made, players will have to keep waiting patiently. But if the rumors are true, we could see Peter Griffin in Fortnite soon.
