The concept first came to the esport collective when they used to show case DJ’s at Tekken tournaments, it created a unique gaming experience, and players and spectators loved the opportunity to see their favourite artist whilst playing their favourite game. Given the UK’s current love affair with urban music and especially homegrown artists, the event has created a hot line-up of performances and exhibition matches including guests Izzie Gibbs, LD (67), Yizzy & Rizzy Entario.
District G promotions said:
"The event will help bridge the gap between casual and pro gaming, there are a lot of serious esports tournaments, which can be polarising for the casual gamer, our main aim with the event is to recreate the unique and inclusive format that DG events bring, whilst seeing familiar faces from both the Tekken and FIFA pro community."
This isn't first time there has been a crossover between esports and rap music – last year saw artists such as Drake and Travis Scott playing Fortnite Battle Royale with Tyler "Ninja" Blevins, whilst American DJ Marshmello and Panic! at the Disco's Brendon Urie have played with Ninja and Jack "CouRage" Dunlop.
Closer to home, JME ran the Serious Rainbow Six Siege tournament with Gfinity, occupying the role of host as well as participant.
Tickets for the event can be booked from District G's website.
