Destiny 2 isn't exactly in its best state right now. While there's growing excitement from the community for the upcoming Destiny 2 showcase, where Bungie plans to reveal more details about The Final Shape expansion and Season 22, overall things are a bit mellow.
Speaking of mellow, the infamous PvPvE mode Gambit continues to be the game's least engaging activity that hasn't received a new map in four years. Bungie has remained stubbornly quiet when it comes to Gambit. Things may finally change for the better, especially when it comes to Gambit's role in future Destiny 2's seasons.
It seems Crucible and Gambit will finally have a more prominent role to play in Destiny 2's seasons. This info comes from game journalist Travis Northup, who recently opened up about his interview with Destiny 2 devs on the Last Word podcast.
Northup asked Bungie about the future of Crucible and Gambit in Destiny 2's seasons, to which Bungie said, "We don’t have anything to announce today, but we’re going to have a whole lot more information on the seasonal model as it relates to Gambit and PvP-focused content at the Destiny 2 Showcase in August.”
Destiny 2's current seasonal model has received a lot of criticism over the years. Many players think it's a straightforward grind fest that could do with some assessments.
As of now, Gambit and Crucible don't contribute much to Destiny 2 seasons, as in seasonal activities. While running these activities is essential to get the Seasonal Title and complete all weekly challenges, other than that, there is no major incentive to play these activities. Hopefully, this changes in the future Destiny 2 seasons.
Thankfully, fans don't have to wait much longer to find what exactly Bungie has in store for Crucible and Gambit in the future seasons, as the Destiny 2 showcase is just around the corner.
