Dead by Daylight's Cursed Legacy chapter contained The Oni as the killer, along with survivor Yui Kimura. Here are our thoughts on Dead by Daylight's Cursed Legacy chapter, including whether The Oni is worth buying.

Dead by Daylight Cursed Legacy Review

Dead by Daylight's Cursed Legacy chapter introduced The Oni, and he remains a popular face (or mask?) in the DBD fandom thanks to his design and power. Inspired heavily by Japanese mythology, The Oni is a formidable demon with a striking appearance, featuring menacing horns and a menacing mask. Dead by Daylight has improved its character designs over time, adding more and more detail to characters and their models - but The Oni is an early example of the team's best work, with a commendable amount of attention to details in the character's mask and outfit.

The Oni's power, Yamaoka's Wrath, is a game-changer that sets him apart from other killers. When activated, Yamaoka's Wrath allows The Oni to absorb Blood Orbs left behind by injured survivors, transforming him into a more powerful form. That's when things really get heated when playing as, or against, The Oni. When using his power, The Oni can down survivors in just one hit, making chases effortless for skilled players. Out of all the killers in Dead by Daylight, Oni might just have the most "snowball" potential - meaning he can take one small hit or down and turn it into a win.

That said, it's not always easy to use The Oni's power; he moves very quickly when using it, making him challenging to control and making it difficult to land a one-hit down for survivors who know how to dodge and counter him. This means that this killer lends himself more to experienced gameplay, and it's easy for beginners to make potentially game-ending mistakes.

Though his power is strong, Oni's perks aren't anything to write home about; Zanshin Tactics lets you see all pallets, breakable walls, and vaults around you, which may be helpful for beginners but isn't overall game-changing. Blood Echo inflicts survivors with Hemorrhage and Exhausted when they're injured, making it a good perk to combo with others in a build that focuses on keeping survivors injured. Nemesis, which changes the Obsession when a survivor stuns you, is mostly only beneficial when trying to complete specific Tome challenges that involve killing multiple Obsessions.

Dead by Daylight Cursed Legacy Review Verdict

Dead by Daylight's Cursed Legacy chapter has a distinctive style with a powerful killer that will appeal to experienced players looking for a character with a high skill ceiling and great design. While his perks aren't the strongest in the game, The Oni definitely a worthwhile buy for players who are interested in taking on an aggressive playstyle.
