1 June 2023 - News coming next week at Summer Games Fest?

We've heard nothing. NOTHING. About Cyberpunk 2077's next update. However, that could be about to change.

CD Projekt Red has revealed that Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty will be shown off as part of Summer Game Fest 2023, which kicks off on June 8.

So it seems possible that we learn more about the game's next major update.

28 April 2023 - CDPR Confirms Phantom Liberty Hands-on For June Showcase

CD Projekt Red had already confirmed that it'll be showing off more of the upcoming Phantom Liberty expansion this coming June, but now we know it will be playable too.

It's still unclear if the developer plans to release another sizeable update for the game prior to Phantom Liberty launching, but hopefully, we'll find out plenty more soon enough.

5 April 2023 - CDPR Showcase New Ray Tracing Overdrive Mode

CD Projekt Red has revealed a new Cyberpunk 2077 Ray Tracing: Overdrive Mode which arrives April 11, bringing full ray tracing, also known as path tracing, to the game.

Here's a bit more info before you drool over the new gameplay video, below:

“This demo showcases path tracing, also known as full ray tracing, an advanced, GPU-intensive form of ray tracing that accurately simulates light throughout the entire scene. Previous techniques separately addressed ray-tracing shadows, reflections and global illumination for a small number of light sources. Full ray tracing models all properties of light from an unlimited number of emissive sources, delivering physically correct shadows, reflections and global illumination on all objects."

31 March 2023 - Phantom Liberty News Coming This June!

CRPR has confirmed that they'll start to share more information about the upcoming Phantom Liberty expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 this coming June.

Again, it's not clear if the next major update, patch 1.7, will coincide with the release of Phantom Liberty, or if we can expect a new patch before the expansion.

Either way, it's positive to know that we should start hearing more about new content for the game in the near future!

29 March 2023 - No Metro System Coming Anytime Soon

If you've been harboring any hopes of seeing a metro system introduced with the upcoming Phantom Liberty expansion or the 1.7 Update, you might want to start wishing for something else.

During a recent panel about worldbuilding in modern games, CD Projekt Red artist Vladimír Vilimovský appeared to suggest that a metro system would soon "be available to everyone".

However, Cyberpunk Global Community Manager Marcin Momot has since taken to Twitter to clarify that the team still "did not plan on adding [the metro system]" in the future.

Ho Hum.

Lets hope we get news from the Investor Call tomorrow, one way or another.

15 March 2023 - New updated coming towards the end of the month?

Mark this date into your calendar.

On March 30 CD Projekt Red will hold a call with investors to discuss the Separate and consolidated yearly reports for 2022.

We imagine we could finally learn more about Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty and potentially the 1.7 Update for the game.

Fingers crossed, there will be more to follow later this month.

1 March 2023 - Is this the month for more Cyberpunk 2077 1.7 update news?

It's now March, and it's been 5 months and 23 days since CD Projekt released the Cyberpunk 2077 1.6 Patch update.

Surely we're getting close to the launch of Patch 1.7.

Will March finally deliver some positive news on the future of Cyberpunk 2077.

Here's hoping...

January 31 - A new update, but it's not for the Cyberpunk 1.7 Patch

CD Projekt has today announced a new update for Cyberpunk 2077.

The update is mainly for PC players and adds support for NVIDIA DLSS 3 and NVIDIA Reflex on compatible hardware.

Still no word on the 1.7 update for the game, but it's always good to see these sort of improvements regardless.

January 3 - New QA Testing underway

A few months on from the release of the 1.6 Edgerunners update, it looks as though QA is finally up to something on the PC version of the game.

Certainly, positive news as we approach the release of the 1.7 update and Phantom Liberty.

December 14 - New Feature Tease?

One dataminer has managed to unearth some new vehicular combat mechanics which many believe will come with the next update of the game, or potentially with the Phantom Liberty expansion.

It'll be interesting to see if CD Projekt will implement the feature in Update 1.7.

November 16 - Phantom Liberty DLC will be a paid expansion

In a comment to GamesRadar, CDPR's Global PR Director, Radek Grabowski, has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty DLC will be a paid expansion, stating: "as for the expansion's pricing - we have not revealed exact details yet, but it will be a paid one."

We wouldn't be surprised if Patch 1.7 is scheduled to arrive alongside the upcoming DLC.

November 9 - A new hotfix has been released, but it's not Patch 1.7

There's a brand new Cyberpunk 2077 patch out, but it's not the 1.7 Update we're all waiting for.

The new update is actually Patch 1.61 and provides support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 2.1. In short, it should provide some new tech to upscale the game and improve the overall performance on PC and current-gen consoles.

Cyberpunk 2077 1.7 Patch Update – Release Date

As of writing, developer CD Projekt RED has yet to confirm a release date for the next planned patch update for Cyberpunk 2077. However, while the release window of previous patch updates has been somewhat inconsistent in recent months, we can use the timeframe to estimate a possible window period for Cyberpunk's 1.7 patch update.

The game's recent Edgerunners / 1.6 patch update arrived on 6th September 2022, with players waiting more than six months since the previous update, patch 1.5. This update was released on 15th February 2022, so it's safe to assume that the 1.7 patch update may arrive sometime in 2023, possibly to coincide with the release of the Phantom Liberty expansion.

Cyberpunk 2077 1.7 Patch Update – All Confirmed Features

While the release date of the 1.7 patch update has yet to be confirmed by the developers, what's certain is what players can anticipate from the upcoming update. As discussed during the Night City Wire: Edgerunners Special on 6th September 2022, game director Gabriel Amatangelo has listed several key features in the upcoming patch update.

According to Amatangelo, the previous patch update laid "the groundwork for future stuff," including massive overhauls for various gameplay systems. One of these key overhauls is revamping the Cop System alongside vehicle-to-vehicle combat, which should give layers "a whole new feel and dimension and immersion to the city."

In addition to overhauls to the cop system and vehicle-to-vehicle combat, Amatangelo also mentioned changes to MaxTac which should accompany the Cop System overhaul. Likewise, the developer plans a new gameplay loop for melee combat with further actions for the perk tree.

Beyond this, there are planned additions to the Cyberware mechanic, which weren't explained in full detail. Considering the Cyberpunk 2077 version 1.5 patch update addressed various bug issues while enhancing the Cyberware feature, more slots could be made available, including new items for players to acquire.

The next expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, Phantom Liberty, is expected to release in 2023, which includes more content and the return of Keanu Reeves' Johnny Silverhand. Until official confirmation from the developer on the Cyberpunk 1.7 patch update release, we will endeavor to provide more updates once more reliable information is available.
