Fortnite Season 5 Competitive: FNCS start date, Bragging Rights, LTM and Cash Cups announced

With the new year comes more competitive Fortnite to enjoy. Developer Epic Games has revealed their initial plans for Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5 in 2021, which includes this year's FNCS start date, and a whole lot of tournaments for players to enjoy.

Fortnite players can look forward to Season 5 competitive Cash Cups, a new Bragging Rights tournament series, as well as Limited-Time Mode (LTM) tournaments throughout the season.

FNCS 2021 start date

Let's kick things off with the start date of the Fortnite Championship Series (FNCS) for 2021.

In a new post from Epic Games, the developer revealed the start date for the FNCS in 2021 to be 4th February 2021.

Epic Games will reveal more details in "a couple of weeks".

Fortnite Bragging Rights tournaments

Fortnite Competitive will be hosting a brand-new, in-game tournament series most Friday nights during Season 5. This is a Trios tournament series.

The tournament series is called Bragging Rights and will be split into PC, Console, and Mobile platforms. The first Bragging Rights tournament will be held on 8th January 2021.

There are no prizes involved but the winners will get a "special shoutout" from the official Fortnite Competitive Twitter handle.

Fortnite Season 5 Cash Cups

Those who have reached Champion League in the Arena will be able to join the new Cash Cups for Fortnite Season 5. This is also a Trios tournament series, which will be held on Mondays.

The Fortnite Season 5 Cash Cups will take place "every other week throughout the season", with the first one starting on 11th January 2021. These cups will be open to all platform and will be a cross-platform affair.

At the time of writing, Epic Games have not revealed additional details on the Fortnite Season 5 Cash Cups, just mentioning these will be similar to Contender Cups from the previous season.

New LTM tournaments in Fortnite

A new competitive season of Fortnite wouldn't be complete without some LTM tournaments. These will work similarly to Wild Wednesday's from Season 4. However, they will take place on alternating Mondays.

Epic Games plans to have a mixture of formats and modes for these LTM tournaments throughout the season. Cash prizes will also be awarded to the top teams and players in each region.

Lastly, Epic Games revealed it does have plans for individual competitions throughout the season to "support core modes beyond Trios."

The developer will reveal more details on these tournaments once they are finalized, so stay tuned for more information throughout the season.
