In Capcom's massive open-world RPG, Dragon's Dogma 2, players are given the freedom to do just about anything and also ignore things they don't feel like dealing with. That's where Dragonsplague gets you, so be wary, Arisen!

Dragonsplague is like a disease that pawns can get and can spread between pawns. If left unchecked, a "devasting calamity" occurs, and that's got some players very worried. You can read our complete guide on Dragonsplague in Dragon's Dogma 2, explaining how you can cure it, and how to spot it before the possession progresses too far.

Whole Towns Get Slaughtered in Dragon's Dogma 2

Waking up to a dead town was preventable, Arisen! Pay closer attention to your pawns...(Picture: Capcom)

So what's happening? Well, after Dragonsplague on one of your pawns progresses to a certain point, and you rest at an Inn, you will awake with a message that the whole town has been slaughtered. The pawn will then disappear, leaving death and destruction in its wake.

Dragon's Dogma 2 players both love and despise this mechanic. It is, after all, preventable if you just pay attention. On X, Kyle shows what the capital city of Vernsworth looks like after leaving a pawn with Dragonsplague unchecked for quite some time.

It's hilarious, isn't it?

Don't worry, it's not permanent...

While a lot of panic set in, we've got some good news to share below!

Does Dragonsplague Ruin Your Save?

Here's the thing: many players and even some publications have been reporting that when all the NPCs in a town get wiped out due to Dragonsplague, and there are important quests left to do, it means that you can't continue.

That's plainly wrong. Gamers have found that if you wait a week (of in-game time) or a bit more, the NPCs in the town will repopulate. So, to be VERY clear, Dragonsplague does not ruin your game/save!

Check out the YouTube channel Ruba's video below, showcasing a dead town following a pawn with Dragonsplague going rogue.
