If you're keen on partying with friends, here's our guide on the Clan settings, permissions, ranks, and more in Diablo 4.
Diablo 4 Clans: How To Create, Ranks, Permissions & More

While Diablo 4 will be offering players a deep and interesting single-player experience, the game will also be offering players the ability to join each other in a group or "clan" to slay demons and collect more resources. But how will clans work in Diablo 4, and will it differ from the system implemented in the previous Diablo titles?

Well, that's what we're here to answer, as this guide will break down everything we know so far about the clan system in Diablo 4, including how to create a clan, the ranks, permissions, and much more.

Update on 18 July 2023: We've updated this article with the latest information on Clans in Diablo 4, including ranks, permissions, and much more.

Diablo 4 - How To Create A Clan

Creating a clan in Diablo 4 is fairly simple as all you need to do is hit "N" on your keyboard to get to the Clan tab, then you'll receive a prompt asking you to "Join a Clan" through a publicly listed search, or make one yourself by selecting "Create Clan." Select "Create Clan," and you'll be given a list of settings to fill out for your clan's details.

Luckily there is no level requirement or cost involved with creating a clan, so once you hit create, you'll be given the following options to choose from when setting up your clan:

Required

  • Clan Name – What the clan is called. Can be up to 24 characters long.
  • Clan Tag – What other players in the world see. Make it similar to the clan name. Can be up to 6 characters long.

Optional

  • Clan Description – Describe the purpose or goal of your clan.
  • Language – Select a desired language for your clan.
  • Labels – Pick a label that best describes the majority of your clan’s activity revolves around.

Once done, you'll be presented with the clan's landing page. Clans, like in Diablo 3 and Diablo Immortal, may have up to 150 members, and all of your characters (Softcore and Hardcore) are members of the same clan. The clan is public by default and may be searched.

This may be changed under the Clan Settings, and the top page allows you to handle your clan's Join Requests. A panel displaying clan members is also visible. Finally, there is a newsfeed of your clan member's most recent accomplishments.

Diablo 4 - Clan Permissions, Settings, and Ranks

Now that your clan has been created you can access all of the clan's settings and permission features to customize and protect your clan as you like. Below are all the settings that you'll be able to access in the Clan tab overview of Diablo 4:

  • Symbols – Add many symbols to make your heraldry unique and stand out!
  • Dye – Add the finishing touches to make the heraldry your own.

Clan Search

Last but not least, you can join a clan if you aren't interested in starting one on your own. You can do this by choosing "Join Clan" instead of "Create Clan" after pressing "N". From there, you can click on “Search Clans,” which brings up a small prompt where you can directly type the name of a known clan for easier finding.

For a general search, select your preferred language and label (activity). Hit “Search Clans”. This will bring up a list of results that appear on the left side, and when clicking on a clan, you'll see more information on the right panel. Such information includes the:

  • Clan Name
  • Clan Tag
  • Clan Leader
  • Total Members & Creation Date
  • Labels
  • Heraldry

Click on the “Request to Join” button when you find a clan of interest. From there, you'll just need to wait and see if the Clan Leader and/or Officers accept you.

We will endeavor to update this article if/when any details on Diablo 4 clans change.
